Diploma procedure
Diploma procedure in accordance with Order No. 175 of the Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus University of September 25, 2023.
PROCEDURE FOR AWARDING A PROFESSIONAL TITLE
- The procedure for awarding a professional title is initiated at the request of a student who has passed the classes included in the study program, except for the seminar, submitted at least 14 days before the planned date of the diploma examination.
- The student submits an application in USOSweb with the following content:
“I am requesting the initiation of proceedings to award a professional title. Diploma thesis entitled “……………………. ” I prepared under the supervision of “………………….” In the application, the student enters the title of the diploma thesis, the supervisor’s name and surname, and attaches a scan of the declaration signed by the supervisor. The declaration template is set out in Annex No. 2 (ZR.175.2023 – Annex No. 2, ZR.175.2023 – Annex No. 2 – converted) to the order.” - An employee of the dean’s office checks whether the student has obtained credits, passed exams and completed the mandatory internships provided in the study program (except for the seminar).
- The Dean considers the student’s application at USOSadm.
- The Dean appoints a reviewer, appoints the examination committee, and sets the examination date.
- The dean’s office employee enters the title of the thesis, the supervisor’s and reviewer’s details, and the exam date into USOSadm.
- Student – after the employee of the dean’s office enters the diploma thesis data:submits the following declarations electronically to APD:
– “Aware of legal liability, I declare that this work was written by me independently and does not contain any content obtained in a manner inconsistent with applicable law.”
– “I declare that the presented work has not previously been the subject of procedures related to obtaining a professional title at a university.”;introduces the APD:
– the title of the work in Polish – if the original language is other than Polish,
– the title of the work in English – if the original language is other than English,
– summary of the work and keywords in the original language,
– summary of the work and keywords in Polish – if the original language is other than Polish,
– electronic version of the diploma thesis, prepared in accordance with the rules set out in Annex 3 to the regulation. - The supervisor checks the correctness and completeness of the data regarding the diploma thesis entered by the student into APD and checks the thesis in JSA.
- If, in the supervisor’s opinion, the thesis does not raise any doubts as to its originality, the promoter:
a) accepts the anti-plagiarism report in APD;
b) submits the following declaration to APD:
“I declare that this work was prepared under my supervision. I know the result of the report on the anti-plagiarism test conducted in the Unified Anti-Plagiarism System, and I state that the work meets the conditions for its presentation in the procedure for awarding a professional title”;
c) issues a grade for the seminar;
d) sends the work for review.
10. The supervisor and reviewer, no later than three days before the date of the diploma examination, prepare and approve the review in APD. Approval of the review is equivalent to its electronic signature.
11. An employee of the dean’s office calculates the average grade from studies in USOSadm and provides the electronic protocol of the diploma examination to the committee’s chairman.
12. The committee chairman prepares a report on the diploma examination in the APD. Committee members immediately approve the minutes in the APD. The signatures of committee members are replaced by their authentication in APD.
